Akasa Apache OR Noctua NF-F12

akasa piranhas are excellent pwm static pressure focused fans.

Used them on a megahlems and its a stunning fan, very quiet!

Aye, the Piranha's are good and very quiet up to around 1500 rpm and even full tilt (1900)

they're quieter than the Corsair SP 1450's

Just trying to decide if I should get some more or the Scythes 1850's for a new build

They are a bit louder than apaches. Same speed as the vile yellow vipers, but much better static pressure. Im thinking of painting the blades on mine red to match the rest of the build. The light blue looks a bit odd.

I would have paint them yeah.
Will do pics :p

How are they at the lower speeds, do they still perform well? Or do they fall off at lower speeds? I was planning on using a fan controller to keep speeds reasonable so they shouldnt be at full speed much

Have you tried removing the blades?

May do the same and paint them :)
Ive tried on a viper mate and there seems to be no way to remove the blades. I assume the piranhas are the same. Very hard to find decent PWM fans in red/black, there used to be the zaward golf series, but theyre hard to find now and i need a mimimum of 6, 8 if using top exhausts.

Noise wise, at lower speed sub 1500 rpm etc, theyre pretty quiet. One thing to watch though. I tried them on an Akasa FC six fan controller, they wouldnt work at all. Currently mine are ran of mobo headers. 5 in total, but as said i need a few more. Two for top exhaust and 1 for a lian li 5.25 bay fan unit i have in this case. The stock fan in it is rubbish.

Edit, just checked with a decibel metre on my phone, 5x akasa vipers at idle, 36db. Measured from 2 feet from the case. By far they are the loudest fans/parts in my system. 40db in game, allowing for my keyboard/mouse clicking.

I'll have a play later this week to see if I can break one :D

Got the ones on the TJ controlled by a AQ5 and they work very well, start to get annoying around 1700rpm :(

I have then set at 1350ish(24/7) and they are near silent - need to replace the Noctua's with some Piranha's.

Tracked some GT1850's down at a decent price - but for 12 it gets a bit steep.

Look forward to see how you get on scotty. They are a pretty expensive fan. Though i recently blew 73 quid on 5x alpenfohn red clovers only to discover they were useless for a hot running system like mine. Ive no idea what speed my fans are hitting as i removed asus ai suite and just run them via the profiles in bios.

When my new case arrives will be swapping systems out and putting the Max Extreme

with the 780 Classies, hopefully having the fans controlled by temps via mobo headers.

My heads battered trying to work out how to connect everything.

Think I need my own thread on this.

Apologies OP for hijacking :(

I didn't even realise you couldn't get GTs any more :(
Luckily (I hope) I think I bought 8 of them a while back. Will be gutted if it turns out I bought 6... (cuz I'll need 8 for 900D build)
