I have just bought the above caddy to move all my data from my old comp to my new one and to use as extra storage....Anyway the hdd i put in there does not cotain any opertating system only files and folders............

The drive is recognised in the device manager but does not show up in my computer.......i tried the disk managment tools in admin its there but the only way i could access it is if i convert it to basic disk thus losing all the data on it.....any ideas chaps

Windows doesn't support external Dynamic Disks so you'll need to convert it to a basic disk before you can use it. Easiest way is to fit the drive internally to the new PC temporarily, move the data off it, format it as a basic disk then remove it and put back in the caddy.

ive plugged it in to the pc internally but it still showing up as a dynamic disk and i cannot access the data.....i am running vista 64 if that makes any difference......and my new system is a shuttle.....any ideas i really dont wanna lose all this data.......my old comp is still here and had an additonal 3 drives in it....could i tranfer all the data from this drive to one of the other drives in the old comp then format this drive and change it to basic then put all the data back on to it......

OK, if it's currently dynamic then you'll need to use the old machine to get the data off it and then flip it back to a basic disk.
