Hi there

can anyone with a Vortexx Neo please measure how far the furthest part of heatsink plate is from the expansion bracket and how high the casing below the fan is from the pcb?

EDIT: damn picimg changed my image

i want to make sure it fits my Sapphire 4870 1GB that has a non reference cooler, which by the way has the loudest fan at idle ever.

thanks!

teh users i was going to PM were beefybarn and Merlin5 so if you guys see this or any other owners please post the dimensions.

believe me i know how much of a hassle it is to open your case, especially when its all neatly setup, but its just a just measurements to help me out :) . if you have the cooler laying around, measurements detached from the GPU are fine.

from some of the pics posted around here of the neo im pretty sure the heatsink plate will miss the capacitors on my card (linked below), but just worried about the VRM heatsink behing too high for the cooler to make proper contact with the GPU's heatspreader.

thanks for the reply.

my Sapphire 4870 has a non reference cooler, but i am not sure if it has a reference pcb. if i was it would be certain that it would fit as the 4870 is supported by the neo. and finding someone who has confirmed the neo fits my particular card is next to impossible. hence the need of dimensions to determine if it fits myself.

As far as know all the different flavours of a particular model of graphics card use the same reference PCB but it might be worthwhile popping off the old cooler to have a look at the board and compare it to the reference one. (I find that reviews generally get the cards nekkid ;))

if it is the reference design it still has the black VRM heatsink which is what i am worried about at 1.25cm from the PCB. the capcitors are 0.85cm from the PCB so if the neo clears the capacitors by the difference between the height of the VRM heatsink i know it wll fit. :)

i cant find a pic of my model's PCB and i dont want to take off my cooler yet unless i know the neo will fit. in this post there is a pic of what i mean by the VRM heatsink. the heatsink is a bit higher than mine though when compared to the size of the capacitors.

EDIT: there is actually two types of capacitors on my card, the other one at 1.15cm which im pretty sure the neo fits over, but im still not certain the neo has a clearance of over 0.15cm from these capacitors, hence my quest for the dimensions!

If you're any good with a hacksaw or similar then you could give that black heatsink a bit of a fin-cut perhaps? Otherwise see if there are any other after market alternatives to cool the Vrms

i would like to report back that the cooler fits! albeit i had to bend the line of capacitors to the right a little. i was most worried about the VRM heatsink, but it clears by a fair bit.

my CPU temps have decreased by about 6-7C as the GPU's hot air is now vented out to case. the fan is a lot quiter, but not as quiet as i thought, but eh im still happy!
