Alan Wake GPU test

Older drivers though, 8.93 is Cat 12.1.

The 7950/70 drivers arent unified yet, also looking at the release dates they are the same, also they only test the 6990/GTX590 with the updated CAP3/FEAR2 profile, the rest of the results are using 12.1

12.1 - 1/25/2012 - http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalystSoftwareSuiteVersion121.aspx

8.921.2 RC11 - 1/25/2012 - http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/RC11Driver.aspx

I dont know it the CAP3 updates affect the 7950/70 or not?

You cant go by release dates on AMD drivers as they have different branches, you have to go by the driver number.

Yeah, but from reading your link all they done is test using the same 12.1 driver as the link I provided, then done a small update using CAP3 drivers on the dual GPU 6990 card, and used a SLI profile from another game for the GTX590, all that shows is the multi GPU setups scaled poorly before, the single GPU results are both done on the same 12.1 driver.

So its not really newer is it?

Where are the single GPU results using newer drivers?

It does not say in the bench you posted that they are using 12.1.

The 8.921.2 RC11 AMD Radeon™ HD 7900 driver still works on the other cards.

But as the drivers are not unified they must be using something other than 8.921.2 RC11 for the other cards tested, and the date of the test would show it was performed after the 12.1 were released.

No, not being unified for 7xxx stops the normal drivers installing on 7xxx, it does not stop 7xxx drivers installing on the other cards, that driver can be from a completely different branch, why a fix in the driver before can be broken in the next as it was not from the same branch as before.

I have installed specific 6xxx only drivers on my 5xxx when the 6xxx first came out hoping to unlock features, i have also installed specific AGP versions as well because they were newer.
Im not saying that there could not be instances where they may not install or give issues, its just not ever for me so far.
