Alarmed disc locks

I've just bought myself an ER5 as a Winter bike so it's probably not high on anyone's list of desirable bikes to steal, however I reckon I should probably still put a disc lock on it just to prevent opportunists.

Is it worth getting an alarmed one or are they just more hassle that they're worth? Anyone got any recommendations?

I bought one of THESE a while back. Fits under the seat when not in use.

If you do get one make sure you also get a disc lock reminder cable.

I forgot about the lock once and rolled the bike forward onto it. It cost me a new mudguard (£30 2nd hand off eBay) and 2 new brake discs (£300) :(

I already use a normal non-alarmed Xena disc lock on my ZX6R so I'm pretty good at remembering that it's on, just unsure whether to get another one like that or get an alarmed one.

I bought 2 Xena alarmed disc locks for my bike and so far no thieves had made a play for it. Also no bears, tigers, wolves or Yeti's have attacked the bike so the Xena's seem to be a good deterrent there as well.

They don't take much knocking to set them off. Though I think they only sound for 15 seconds then go to standby again.

So as long as it's not going to get knocked too often, or the area you're in isn't too windy it should be fine :)

I got an Oxford Titan (non alarmed), it doesn't fit snug to the disk but I dont think that matter too much. Used it for the first time today infact!

I also got a reminder cable for £2.

I use two Xena locks, but have taken the battery's out as even the slightest bit of wind sets them off... or even passing traffic. Still not been stolen in 3 years :D

big chain trumps all and if it has a top box - sorted as you can lump it in there. then lock back wheel/rear subframe to it. not front wheel as to easy to undo and replace with one of theirs....

i could change front wheel on my CBR in about 2 minutes....

Slightly OT and no help to op.
But any suggestion for a cheap ish but Resonable chain and disc lock. It's only a 2decade 600bike so more fp detergent than anything else. But at the same time don't want it to be totally useless.

My uncle had one on his bike he didn't tell me about so when I sat on it it started screaming at me. Be silly not to at least put a standard non-alarmed with reminder cable on, they aren't expensive.
