As title, iv been getting into this more and more recently, it tastes rather nice, and im loving the effect of....not being terribly drunk, -at all-.

Becks tastes great, very sharp, the cobra zero is very sweet tasting, also iv been reading around - apparently its actually good for you ? Has a lot lower carb value (which is good as a beer belly was starting to form :D), and has many good benefits from drinkin, lowers risk of cancer etc and other stuff.

What do you guys knoow about it ? and your thoughts ?

PS: Fairly 'serious' debate if possible, try and avoid the 'ugggghhhhh beer with no alcho = epic failsss and/or similar comments' ;)

I have to say, there are not many alcoholic drinks I genuinely like the taste of apart from red wine.

Surely a shandy would be a nicer thing to drink? :)

I lurve a good shandy on a summers day.

I would like to know about this stuff more tbh...only thing I have tried non alcoholic was Kaliber!

How is Cobra Zero? I might get me some!

If you want low carb proper beer 5% Michelob Ultra is also quite good!

I've tried the Becks one by accident and it was pretty close in flavour but not quite there. Of course as soon as I realised what had happened I beat up the friend who gave it to me

Um, wouldn't unfermented malt be high carb, not low? Or do they remove the alcohol after brewing? Kaliber and cobra just taste of crap, i don't think they brew them, just mix water and malt. Becks is brewed however and tastes pretty nice, practically the same as the alcoholic one.

Ive not tried completely alcohol beer to my knowledge, however one time i went to iceland, and ofcourse the main thing to do anywhere at night is to drink ! i decided to get some beer to bring back to the hostel...

To my surprise i realised that its not easy to find beer in any shops or any alcohol, for that matter (lucky i bought 2L of smirnoff at the airport) however after trying some malt beer which i threw in the bin, i found hineken, i was like "that will do", after trying it it did not taste nice, like beer without flavour, i was a bit confused, i looked at alcohol volume and it was 2%, so i will assume thats the problem.

I would assume it would be very hard to make proper alcohol free beer, proper in the sense that it tastes good, but if we put that aside...

Why do you drink? well mabye you want to get absolutely smashed, fair enough, alcohol free beer would sound a bit stupid..

but i would say most of us would like to get tipsy, and leave it at that, being completely sober is booring sometimes.

and finally i dont value the taste of beer to be the best, if i decided some alcohol free drink, id get a J20 or some nonsense.

Even if it was completely impossible to tell the difference between real and fake alcohol and something like synthohol was invented it would be kinda pointless

I remember having a can of Bass shandy confiscated on a school trip once as it was 0.3% alcohol :(

Quite interested in this as it happens - hate going to the pub with work at lunchtimes and ordering a full strength beer as it's the only thing they sell that I like the taste of. Makes me sleepy for the afternoon. Didn't realise they still sold no/low alcohol beer - thought Kaliber died out a long time ago?

I find the Cobra one too sweet. Becks non-alcoholic is nice, but ulimately I think they lose something of the flavour if there is no alcohol at all, so I'd rather have a low-alcohol beer. I was getting a bit miffed with all the companies changing their lagers to premium (i.e. stronger) lagers, so I'm quite happy they are all now bringing lower percentage versions.

certainly not for me

i drink because i enjoy the feeling of been drunk. don't particularly love the taste of any alcoholic drinks although i do quite like some. ideally i could just be drunk without even drinking
