Thanks to a strong Alder Lake launch, Intel's market share in terms of CPUs sold has climbed to around 30 percent, its highest ever for the year 2021. AMD still maintains a commanding lead, however, thanks to strong demand for midrange price-performance champs like the Ryzen 5 5600X.

So, at this German retailer (typically an AMD fan stronghold), AMD still on top, though Alder Lake making good inroads.

Will be interesting to see what happens to the sales data in December (more motherboard, DDR5 stock) and going forward to next year when RKL/Gen5 SSD's/Zen3 refresh launches.

Love that things are moving so quickly now on the CPU side of things, we have AMD to thank for this!

I do not think it`s worth upgrading Cpu`s / memory and motherboards in 2022 just to many problems with supplies and the refresher are always better 12 months later and also pricing.

Once again talking out your bottom I see.

The user has been tracking data for over a decade now, and Intel lost their market share at that specific shop just like every other shop, as they are there to MAKE MONEY, they don't care what brand they sell, as long as it sells. I present the graph above which is now over 2 years old, but illustrates your lack of knowledge about the PC hardware industry.

Yup this is a record high for Intel over the last few years, i mean its not wrong... one hell of a hyperbolic headline to go with tho

Something like "Intel improved slightly with Alder Lake" would be far more accurate, but that won't get you any clicks.

Good. Need intel to do better to stop AMD rip off prices.

You realise the 12600k and 5800x can be had for the same price new right as of a few days ago. So they have already dropped significantly if you take a look meaning at moment with B550 boards available then AMD are good. Performance is pretty much on par so pick your preference right now depending on if you want to spend the extra £90 on Intel for the mobo.

Ahahaha, I kinda guessed that being Dave it'd be some pro-Intel hyperbole but didn't care enough to check, but looking at that data and lols...

So the big news is that the 12700K, quite possibly the best option of Intels new wunder-chip lineup sold a fraction more, in revenue terms, than the Ryzen R7 3800X, a 'cheap' processor released over 2 years ago. So in terms of units sold Intel sold less units of the shiny 12700K than R7 3800X.

Bet Dave loves that stat :D

Desperation building. We almost have the full team! Spread across multiple threads of course :p

Mmmm gona have to agree and not agree at the same time!

Have AMD upped their prices? Yes, without a doubt.
Compared to what intel was charging for theirs AMD aint even close yet .
5 yrs ago Intel was pricing their 10,12,14,16 core parts far far higher than what AMD is charging now.
USD prices
1000 for a 10
1200 for a 12
1400 for a 14
1700 for a 16 core

I paid £750 for my 16 core 14mth ish ago

So whilst I do agree that AMD has upped prices at least they have also brought Intell down to considerably better prices too, no ?

If AMD had not had zen and just vanished how much do you think in todays climate would intell have charged for their latest 12900k 16C part ?

Bet it would have been the best part of 2.5 K going on history.

If AMD vanished, we wouldn't have ADL in the first place, only skylake++ iteration and 4c as standard in mainstream platform, especially nowdays during corona, shortage etc, Intel would have even less reason to create new architecture and raise amount of cores. AMD is real hero for me, thx to them we have 16c in mainstream, and with Zen 4 we will have even more (i dont count Intel E cores as real cores).

Should take a read of this, might straighten out your view of E cores.
