Alien Life Breakthrough

If we dispatch the Blue Origin crew now, they will only be about 100,000 years old by the time they get there and report back.

Best send those broads up that were up earlier in the week. L'Oreal tells me that they can knock ten years off their lives with that special cream, so a fairly decent stock of that stuff ought to keep them going.

How the hell do they detect this ****?.....also do they use 2 pin or 3 pin plugs ya think?
Some form of spectroscopy where you look at the light being given off and certain frequencies are associated with certain reflections or reactions that can only happen with certain elements or compounds.

I know you need some serious kit to look deep into space, but you can still have a lot of fun observing distant planets at very affordable prices now.

I got a home setup and regularly take a look at some of the moons in our own solar system. Just yesterday upon closer inspection, I managed to see quite a few washed tv celebrities floating in orbit around one such moon. Schofield, Wallace, Jenas, Edwards, Brand all just suspended in orbit. It's incredible what you can find out there. A bit closer to home around Mars, I keep seeing people like Andi Peters, Alan Titschmarsh, Vanessa Feltz amongst others. It's like they're on their way to deeper space but just can't quite get there, clinging on for dear life. I'm currently testing a time lapse style of recording with some pretty advanced stuff for an amateur and hoping to capture a still of Noel Edmonds somewhere out there. A friend who's also into this found Barrymore the other day - think he was around Triton, Neptune way.

That's some really deep stuff.

Have you tried looking for life in Big Brother at all??

Should mess up virtually every self centred religion.
They'll come up with some work around for it to keep their delusions

Also it's not really surprising right? (assuming it's accurate). Obviously there is some form of life elsewhere it's silly to think that there isn't. Whether or not intelligent life is common though and what happens eventually to them (self destruction) is what's interesting.

Some form of spectroscopy..something something something...circus music...phone ringing...more words.....

..ahh..yes...of course.

I can tell you another guy I know who's invested big money into the hobby has started looking much further out. He's seen Craig Phillips on the outer fringes of a black hole.

James Webb telescope (worth every penny if you ask me - Amazing feat of engineering).
It uses Spectroscopy to detect the refraction of light in the upper atmosphere. Chemicals each have their own unique signature from the refracted light. What James Webb has detected is biomarkers of chemicals that could only be given off by living organic compounds, hence they deduce there is a lot of life on this planet, most likely bacteria or simple plants

Also the planet has 8 times the mass of the Earth, so mavity will be very strong, which in turn means that any life (even if it has had longer to evolve into higher forms such as animals) will be very small.

Not remotely getting excited at this stage.

With Nasa struggling for funding with the orange man seeing it as frivolous, what perfect timing.. ;)

DMS is an indication of life, but it's also abiotic and can be produced through industrial means, all of which mean it isn't an automatic 'OMG must be teeming with life'...

I want to believe, but also not fall for obvious funding strategies..
