Someone at work mentioned this to me earlier so I checked it out on IMDb.

"In the year 2085, the Yutani Corporation meets with Weyland Corporation to discuss terraforming." Directed by Ridley Scott.

All sounds good but then some of the posts on IMDb suggest it's going to be 3D and a PG13. Could be an opportunity to restore some faith in the Alien franchise if those bits are untrue!

If its anything under r18 then dont bother imo.

And ok Ridley made a few nice films but meh i think i remember some crap ones hes done before tho cant recall the names. Plus he only did Alien which was ok but Aliens was the best Alien film of the lot.

3D might be rather cool for a aliens film tho. But would have been best with Aliens i reckon.

black hawk down being a fail imo...

the original was very different from the others in that is was more of a sci-fi horror, alienS onwards were more action-esque, which at the time was the 'in' thing.

i love all of the films bar resurrection, which was a massive pile of excrement... why have a human/alien hybrid ffs! it was alright until that bit :(

anyway, if it's pg13 (uk 12??) then it's just a money spinner and well worth steering clear of. as said by skeeter, if it's an 18, and has had the time spent on it like it deserves, it'll be well worth it, and hopefully won't rape the faith :)

Considering the sexual themes/design of the Aliens it wouldn't be that surprising :p.

'In space no one can hear you scream'.

Well aliens kinda rapes ppl and sexes em up by stickin a baby alien in em. Plus they dont care if your a guy or gal they will bone(implant) anything. :p

I'm not sure if production has continued but the last I read a while ago was Scott was at odds with 20th Century about having the prequel being an 18R and having a massive budget. But 20th century want to go for a low cost claustraphobic thriller like the 1st with a PG-13 certificate. I can't imagine Scott doing an Alien film at anything below an 18.

I haven't watched Resurrection since I got the Blu Ray boxset but how anyone can love Alien 3 is beyond me - rubbish rubbish film that!

Couldn't disagree more. Very atmospheric, more of a horror flick like Alien was.
Anything which followed Aliens was going to disappoint lots of people. I remember watching a documentary about the making of Alien3 and the writer/director said marines and guns had been done so well in Aliens it would be an injustice to continue that theme as it was unlikley to measure up.

Apparently there's a pre-theatrical version of Alien3 which is an entirely different film. Different beginning and ending, more of what the director wanted as opposed to what the studio wanted (and got) in the end.

The director didn't endorse it. I'm yet to see it, but an Alien purist I work with has been telling me all about it.

the only gripe i have with it is that it seems there were 3 or 4 different special effects/animatronics teams working on the alien... it looks different in almost every shot :p

but anyway, it's a great film, it has a claustrophobic and vulnerable feel (due to no weapons) and has some brilliant performances.

if you didn't like that, you'll probably like resurrection

The Alien 3 directors cut which has Moxey (Christopher Fairbank) off of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet in it and the alien comes from a cow not a dog and some other bits added, i think up to 20-30 mins added on to the film.

I understand it's a little bit 'unfinished' in parts, mainly around effects?
