Alien Vs Predator-Requiem

Better, looks a lot better than the first one. Still not sure as to whether it will do the franchises any justice, but least they haven't cut back on the gore etc now.

I liked the first AVP, this one just doesn't sit right with me.
Not sure how it just seems wrong on many many levels.

The first AVP was ABSOLUTE GASH, anyone who thinks otherwise surely can't be a fan of the films and books. It was dreadful, utterly dreadul on every level (imo).

However I just watched this trailer and let slip a quiet "oh my God", because it actually looks like it could be watchable. The action was 18-rated gruesome and very true to the fluff (fluff = accurate backstory) in terms of weaponry used, the way the aliens spread, and it all seemed to be on a decent scale, not your average small group yawn-fest. Dare I say i'm looking forward to it, or were all the best bits in that trailer?

Trailer makes it look pretty good imo - certainly bloodthirsty and special effects laden :D

I still want one of those fancy Predator spears though

Ugh, the first movie was awful and this one just seems so... I can't put my finger on it but a lot of films nowadays share the same general 'feeling' especially American sci-fi/horror, Resident Evil, Doom etc. It could be the filming style, I'm not sure.

In that trailer we're shown pretty much everything, which leaves... what to see in the movie?

In both the original Alien and Predator movies, in my opinion, they were based around the 'Oh carp, what the hell is it!' factor, using the atmosphere perfectly, especially in Alien.

Where as in these movies it's basically, 5 minutes into movie, see the alien/monster in full, removing any chance of the 'What the hell is it?' factor > introduce generic characters > que predictable "Oh noez we have 10 hours until the govnernment activates nukes" plot > finish with big CGI based alien/monster fight.

Another factor which I think makes the AvP film/s bad is the fact both Aliens and Predators are in it, sounds stupid, but in their original films they were pitted against humans which made them seem far superior, where as in the first AvP film, the fights between the Aliens and Predators made them appear to be nothing special.

But yes, rant over.

That's because Aliens are the ultimate sport, basically the hardest thing next to a Yautja (Predators), and when humans get caught in the middle of an Alien hunt gone wrong then things tend to get very nasty for us poor folks. Read the books, they go into far more depth. :D

This should definitely appeal to the hardcore fans, expecially those that read AvP magazine. Story is a lot closer to that in the mag, where the Preds send aliens to the planet to hunt, but the humans get caught in the middle. None of this underground temple rubbish.

As is mentioned above, it's too bad they've gone and shown all the good bits. Won't be many surprises left in the film now.

Could it be a continuation - Pred-Alien was seen briefly...

Oh well, dual-wielding plasma-casters F.T.W.

This will be ****. AvP is just ruining two really great sci-fi franchises. Before this load of tosh came along James Cameron actually planned to do another Aliens movie (Aliens 5... and he even mentioned about missing out Alien3 and Ressurection from the timeline as he didn't like them) but then scrapped it when AvP was greenlit because it completely rips up the whole Aliens universe and makes it a joke basically.

I like 3 and ressurection. When you watch 3 straight after Aliens it fits really well.

I enjoyed all the Alien movies inc AvP. Yeah it wasnt the best movie but it had its good moments, bit of a turn your brain off film.

I agree with dannyjo22, if you watch Alien 3 right after Aliens is makes perfect sense and a good film to boot. The 4th was pretty good but I felt it could have had something a little more, not sure what.

As for the AvP 2 trailer, thats looks good, but I dont understand why people are saying they have shown all the best bits? Have you lot seen the movie already to know this? You do not know anything about the movie apart from what you have seen and read. You do not know whats not shown in the trailer. There might be a massive battle that the clip didnt leave any clue too. Theres lots of things that thye would leave out.

I actually enjoyed the first one, in fact i watched it again last night. Sure it was as stupid as hell in some places but it was entertaining. Hopefully i'll feel the same about this one.
