Hi guys,

I have a friend who has an Alienware AURORA ALX (DDR3) and they would like to add in a 128GB Crucial m4 2.5" SSD w/ 3.5" Adapter Bracket - would this SSD fit without any problems and what would need to be done in the BIOS so it will see the SSD.

Thanks,

nice one, thanks RJC - and will it fit with the caddy that comes with it, or do I need anything else like a cage?

The SSD should screw onto the bracket then into a spare drive bay in the case, you should not need anything else.

Worse case, just cable tie the SSD some where in the case :p

What happens if you aint got ACHI optoin in your BIOS like me (Asus Striker Extreme1)

I have askd but I keep seeing this coming up

"you must enable ACHI"

Will the SSD still work etc for it to be worth while or will it limit the speed drastically or some thing else?.

yes if you real carnt use ACHI, mabey a bios up date might help.

other idear is does the muppit use his cd drive if not rip it out and replace with a second hd

thinked it was a lappy, my bad

Just make sure you load everything in the right order as you won't get the Alienware command center to work that does the lighting, vents and fan speed controls etc, what model Aurora ALX does he have, i had the R4.
