Looking to get a portable laptop for uni, that also has the gaming option ready to use. Came across the M11x, does anyone have any first hand experience with them?

Also, does anyone else have any suggestions for around this price range?

I've had my system for around 3 months.

Originally I have an issue with the SU7300 and got a replacement with the i5 so I have experience of both systems. The system performance is good and I would recommend the 4GB memory upgrade. It has enough power to do everything you want. With the i5 the system does run quite hot, more so than the SU7300.

The keyboard is really good to use and the backlight is a nice addition. I will say the weight of the laptop is one of the drawbacks. I wish I have gotten something a bit lighter. For the price the build quality is good, there is a problem with the hinge as it will rub on the screen. I got my SU7300 replaced for this reason. The system is very solid though and can take quite a beating.

You have to be prepared to accept the smaller screen and being honest the resolution is quite limiting. I can get around 4 hours use on the battery or 6hours if I push it.

overall I am happy with the system and the gaming performance more than makes up for the downfalls.

If I had another choice though I would go for the Lenovo Edge. I have used these in work and they are fantastic.
 
What happens when the battery eventually dies? I'm assuming (becuse it's built in) you'd have to send it back to Dell to replace the battery?

Tempted to get one of these to hook up to my home cinema (either the M11X or a plain ol' Studio 15!)

How did you find a voucher for the alienware stuff? I couldn't find any only dell ones.

Also saw this in purple shirt land today albeit the 2core cpu version for a silly price but the screen is pretty nice and the keyboard is very nice to use.

The battery is still removable you just need to remove the bottom access panel.
 
Could maybe consider the Acer 4820TG?

It's larger, at 14" but not much heavier, full blown Core i5, 4gb RAM, 500GB HDD and a 5650 GPU/Intel HD switchable.

Get about 10 hours under light use with the 9 cell battery and 2.5-3 hours gaming for £900.

edit - It has the 5470 not the 5650

Theres a deal at the moment I'm considering and its £899 for the 320GB, 4GB, I5, bluetooth one.

Got my eye on one of these also (4820TG with 5650), but no stock anywhere (at least, no *actual* stock as even Acer seem to think they are out of them !) :(
Also considering the hp Envy 14, but more ££'s and less battery life....still, at least you can get them !

I haven't no, little out of my price range. Looking at a DM4 personally.
