Hi can anyone tell me if the Alienware AW2310 Monitor is a gloss or matte finished screen ? thanks

The screen is non-glossy, Anti-glare. Here is a good review. Seems to do well for gaming (non-3D) but not so well for movie watching (as you would expect from a TN panel monitor).

So if your not a Gamer you would not buy one of these type screens ?

Pretty much.

The 120Hz technology is great for fast paced games as it makes everything very smooth and responsive - very much like playing on a good CRT.

However, if you want to watch films/TV then you really want to get a monitor (or TV) with a VA (or possibly IPS) panel. Panels like these have much deeper blacks, more colours and wider viewing angles than TN panels such as the one used in the Alienware. Here is a good article that explains the differences in these panel technologies.

Thanks so what is a good VA or IPS panel to buy 24 inch ?

What is your budget?

If I had to chose a good 24 inch VA or IPS monitor that is good for video then this is a good bit of kit. However, it is 16:10 aspect ratio - so not ideal for movies. Instead, I would suggest looking at a good VA-based 1080p TV.
