Alienware RAM

Morning guys.

I've just ordered a Dell refurbished alienware 17 R4. Never thought I'd move from a desktop but needs must space wise.

I quite like the spec:
I7
NVIDIA 1060
256gb ssd
6 cell battery

... but 8gb of 2400mhz Ram.

I'd like to bump this up to 16GB but wondered whether I can just stick another 8GB stick in there, and if so, what? Anything similarly spec'ed, exact same as OEM?

Or do I need to buy a new pair? If so is there any that you would recommend?

Or do I not even need to worry about upping the amount?

you would only need 16GB ram if you are doing things that requires more than 8GB ram, so, what are you doing that require more than 8GB ram?

If the answer is nothing then just dont bother.

If the answer is something then yes, you can. A matched pair would be more desireable, but not if you get away with an unmatched pair, which is pretty likely, if not send the extra 8gb stick back.

I've been running 8GB RAM for years, no issue.

If you are not running VMs, or playing some of the very few games that are RAM crazy, you are just throwing money away
