Hi All

Wife has a 5 year old Mercedes B180. Has done 45k and quite well looked after. Just had a set of tyres replaced on the front, which were wearing on the insides. So as a result we had the alignment/tracking done with the MOT today. Looking at the before and after, there doesnt seem to be much that they have done. Which begs the question why were the front tyres so worn on the insides ? Is the suspension worn ? Any components there that should be replaced ?

Thanks

I hope you didn't pay for alignment, as nothing has been adjusted.

How badly worn on the inner edges were they? A lot of modern cars wear tyres on the inner edge due to the camber they run from standard.

Most places, if not all that I know of will not charge for a check.

The only thing that's changed is the rear camber, by a very tiny amount, its not been adjusted.

All of the tyre/exhaust places I have used that do it e.g. ATS/Bush Tyres/Kwik Fit don't charge to check, only for adjustment (although every time I have had it checked, it is normally out of spec so go figure)

Indeed - and to me it looks like the Front camber is a little way of the manufacturer spec ("target data")

£50 for what exactly? They haven't adjusted anything!

Most places charge that much to check and adjust any settings at the front.

After 5 years it will be knocked out, so they must have done something :/

I usually do mine every year and it still needs adjusting slightly.

Indeed, with 2 minutes a gust of wind would put that right. Have you been to tyre specialist? I wouldn't rule anything our unless its been through a Hunter Hawkeye.

Yeah Fit - Wiwk charge nothing if specs are OK.

Most cars these days only allow adjustment on toe-in.
Camber and Caster are factory set.

So if the read out says your O/S front camber is .33 degrees too negative.
There's nothing that can be done and tyres will still wear and steering will still pull left.

The numbers may be green but look at the target, you've got negative camber of over 1degree when target is half a degree. As well as the others

get it checked at Meri Tyre or somewhere (free check) get the results, if they say it needs adjusting take the results, and go back to where you had them so called "adjusted" and get your money back
