Watched first 20 mins and it's terrible. @mrk what a guess you were spot on. Over acting and it's done in a serious tone. Even the scenes were watered down with little explanation. They definitely didn't have the same production level or budget as the original. It's like a fan made movie in comparison.

Sadly I don't think this trend will change. Some Hollywood fatcat will see the popularity of the Asian version and get a lightbulb moment to recreate it for the West because admittedly the western public generally hate watching with subtitles and dubbed has its own flaws. Personally I am fine with subs so get to enjoy the native language tone at the same time.
