All computers with operating systems now come Pre-installed with a 180 day trial of Panda Antivirus

Do Panda pay OCUK for pre-installing this trial? I know a lot of companies get back-handers for doing it, just wondered if this was the case when there are so many better AV packages you could have chosen from.

The fact that its a 180 day trial suggests to me that the AV company bundle you some cash to install them in hope that the people who do buy your PC's will renew when its expired.

Just like the purple shirts place

Hey mate,

They recently offered us an incentive programme so I would imagine so. We stick with Kaspersky however, and its only installed at a customers request.

+1 for it being an optional install.

I think the Higher-ups are losing focus on 'who' their core customers are. To me this is a big incentive to NOT buying one of the systems rather than an incentive.

Why not just include MSE? I know why but I ask the question as I may be surprised.

IMO a fresh install should be left as it is. Any software should be optional or left on a CD, or a code of some sort given for a download.

Fair play for the option, but it should be opt in.

Like car insurance comparison sites where you have to click 500 boxes so they don't either sell your details or spam you with rubbish!

you have to remember, you are all enthusiasts. someone buying a prebuilt system is less likely to be an enthusiast and therefore require some of the legwork to be done for them.

I've always found norton and mcaffee to be the best noob AV's.

So easy to use!

Even I managed to use Norton. Kaspersky was continually mind****ing me every day, hated it!

Watling for when i see you start to install Norton on your prebulits :D

Just installed Norton 2012 on my old mans PC. It is not a bad programme and a vast improvement on the previous version.

Coincidentally I am actually running Panda on my own rig and am very happy with it. Very unobtrusive and runs in the background with no problems. Have experienced no issues with online gaming either as it has a gaming mode.

It is a good choice of AV in my humble opinion so thumbs up to you for offering it.

Wow you're like the first company to offer this. good on you!

Thanks. We do listen to what our customers say, this is the beauty of our forums after all!

I can confirm this will never happen! Not unless Norton turn up with a truck our Ferraris for every member of staff with an unlimited fuel card :p

Sensible.

:)
