all in one pc issues

Hi all,

A friend has asked me to look at their Aspire Z3800 its an all in one built in to the monitor.

i get a black screen with _ and then 2mins later "error loading operating system" I personally think the hdd has gone kaput.
The Hdd sounds like its seeking all the time and sounds clunky.




Just wanted to get other ideas before i replace the hdd.

Test the hdd with manufactures tools to see if it has bad sectors etc.

Looking at the acer website for the model of the pc and it has no tools.

windows wont even load from dvd. just crashes

driving me nuts, can't even find the command like "f8" to get to a dos command prompt to do a W&D test!


Update: Managed to find the command left alt/F10/ still yet to get to Dos, to load the W&D. however did manage to semi load the windows/safe mode but screen goes black and HDD just ticks..

Shall have another look thursday

Try a spare HDD to see if thats the issue and try a windows install.

Don't have a spare HDD

and it just goes past windows install, and get a black screen and does sod all.

left it for over 2 hours and nowt.

& it's a nightmare to take the back off to get to the HDD too lol. Cant find anything online now to do it without breaking it!
