All-In-One Website Backup Software?

Hi,

Is there any software out there that will backup a complete website? By that I mean not just the files but also the database? For example with a webshop I am creating, I download all files via FTP at the end of the day, then backup the database manually. This is a bit of a pain and if I had some software that did it with a single click or even automatically at intervals it would be a lot easier.

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks for the reply. I don't think my host (one.com) uses cPanel. I've had a look at their control panel and there doesn't appear to be a backup option.

I've been looking into something similar as I've been upping a lot more content onto my host lately and after a problem with my previous host I'd like to make sure I have it all backed up.

I can only imagine it taking an age to do so though I've got about 7GB throughout lots of different domains and directories, I take it superflexibile scans all the directories in any given set and sees what has changed? Does that mean checking every file individually?!

Yeah - before it starts doing anything it builds a file list against the rules / settings to you have set (if that makes any sence). Obviously the first time it goes it will have to copy the whole lot - but after that it could just pull the changed files. It scans everything the FTP account has rights to see - and you can create filters and masks so it only copies what you want it to.

Best thing to do is to DL the eval / trial version - iirc its fully functional for the first 30 days.

Cheers, I'll download the trial of that file synchroniser and see how I get on. I didn't spot any mention of backing up the database though. I think maybe I didn't word it correctly or explain myself properly in the first post. At the moment, I download the files via FTP, then I log into phpMyAdmin, export and download the SQL data. I'm a noob when it comes to web dev. though so maybe I'm doing something unnecessary?

PCDave: I read that page on the one.com daily backup and they seem to be talking more about safeguarding from data loss at their end (eg. hardware failure, fire etc.), rather than providing a facility for me to restore my website after I mess up the database or delete a file by mistake etc.?

ahh

Didn't realise you needed to backup the DB too. If you are using Plesk I would schedule an FTP backup to your PC on a nightly basis.

I have an 20gig FTP account with my VPS host I backup all my sites to. Works a treat. I only use SuperFlex to get my data outside my site like my mail server and OS files.

move from one.com - they are shocking! And make sure you do it 4 months before your renwal date otherwise they will charge you for another years hosting.
