What'll be the odds of being able to order the new phone, whatever it may be, online on the Apple Store, on launch day without needing to wait for months for it to arrive?

I'd imagine the tech sites like Engadget or Gizmodo will provide coverage and relevant links to live streams. Usually my first stop.

i always go to engadget, they don't live stream, I don't think anyone does but they live update bit like bbc football scores etc then when its done apple normally put the keynote on their site.

They record and upload it later.

Engadget, Gizmodo and such do a perfectly good job of getting the details out.

Why waste their own time and resources trying to stream something to thousands, if not millions of people.

Because we'd like to see it? its not like Apple dont already have the infrastructure to deal with it.

They did actually live stream one of their events last year, can't remember which one. It was only viewable on iDevices and Macs I think.

Apple don't stream it because it's one of the 'mysterious' things they do. They let the media handle covering it.

Yeah, it was available as a link on the frontage of the Apple website... but I also don't remember which event it was for.

Actually, come to think of it, I now remember Steve Jobs pulling Chris Martin out at the end, who them warbled on for ages while playing the Piano.

Assuming this is real (it may not be), it further points towards there being an iPhone 5 - http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/01/radio-shack-inventory-screen-pegs-iphone-5-for-sprint/

iPhone 4S appears in latest iTunes beta, looking the same as iPhone 4 aside from the antenna.

Beta has now been pulled by Apple.

Looking increasingly likely that there wont be a redesigned phone.

Edit: The antenna looks the same as the CDMA version of the 4.

Or (and what I think/hope is more likely), Apple are deliberately trying to throw people off the scent of the iPhone 5 just so it has some real shock value come Tuesday.

I'm still hoping there'll be a 5, not so much because I want a redesigned phone but rather because I suspect the 4/4S will be all I'll need and thus I want the 5 to be released to drive the 4/4S prices down

Sure, but it seems like a pretty over the top amount of unnecessary work just to fool a bunch of tech enthusiasts about an announcement that's only 4 days away.

It would be nice if it was true though.
