I did a quick search and didn't see any threads on this game. I was reading the Christmas issue of PC Gamer the other day and saw this in there. It looks pretty interesting and is basically a massively multiplayer Cops V Robbers game. The game is being made by the creators of Crackdown and I think the team working on it was also founded by one of the founding members of DMA responsible for the original GTA games, the article was a good read and it certainly looked pretty good in my opinion.

Anyway, here's a few links and when I've got some time later on I'll post some pre-release screenshots. :)

San Paro: The Living City
APB: All Points Bulletin is set in San Paro, a persistent, online modern city which lives and breathes, filled with a population of civilians going about their daily lives. Joining the civilian population are opposing factions of players: Criminals and Enforcers, fighting for control and leaving their mark as they succeed or fail.

Criminal or Enforcer?
Players choose to be either a criminal or an enforcer and are matched against each other in fast-paced, third person action. The criminals aim to create a city rife with violent crime. The enforcers are pitted against them, protecting the civilian population and fighting the criminals at every turn. Want to commit a robbery with your friends? You can, but watch out because another group of players will be out to stop you!

Conflict and Game Play
Players can pledge to criminal or enforcement organizations and receive missions or move through the environment choosing open world activities. For criminals; robbery, graffiti, arson and murder all add to notoriety. For enforcers; arresting criminals, preventing crimes and cleaning up the city all add to prestige. With a range of weapons and vehicles to choose from and multiple ways to be matched up with other players, this is the ultimate test of your skills.

Be a Celebrity!
As a top player, your name will be at the top of league tables held online. San Paro will be your world: your character’s name and face as well known as a Hollywood movie star, a standard that other players aim for. But how long can you stay at the top?

Be Creative!
APB has one of the most in depth character and vehicle customization tools available today. Every player can create a unique character with a level of detail unparalleled in other games. And customization doesn’t stop at physical appearance. Clothing, body art and vehicles can all be customized using symbols created by the players themselves in our symbol editor. Successful players are rewarded with greater ability to customize so the better you are at the game, the better you’ll look.

Play Your Own Music!
The world of APB will be filled with music: you can import your own music files into APB plus we have more than 100 tracks licensed to the game and a sophisticated in-game music editor.

If you make music, you can license your own tracks to APB.

Information on the apparent console version though the game is primarily aimed at PC according to what I've read.

There is an APB Beta thread
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18044070
Don't know if that counts or not...

Also you need to fix your wiki link, the last ")" isn't linked properly

(sorry, I don't like being the nob but I thought I'd better point 'em out)

Other than that, this will be my game!!!

APB and BFBC2 are the games in my scope atm :)

Didn't notice that Beta thread, searching skill fail! :o

I'll get the link sorted out now. :) Might stick a few pics up later too, the game certainly has promise.

I was in the first phase of beta and the lag made it impossible to enjoy :(

I'm hoping they will fix it...

:(

How did you find the game in general? Apparently in the interview I read, they are taking the feedback from the Beta's very seriously, I think what changes they make will make or break this game. It's got a lot of potential to be a really fun, thriving online community, hopefully they won't balls it up. :)

Lag can be bad (At times). But a new patch is coming with the Next play test (in phase 2).

Lets hope its getting a lot better. Fun when there is no lag.

Am I right in saying that the beta servers are all american atm? Coz obviously that will have something to do with the lag (before you flame me, I'm not blaming 100% of the lag on the US servers).

& for anyone seriously interested in the game it's definatly worth giving the podcasts a chance http://www.apb.com/2009/05/14/apb-podcast-episode-1-meet-the-team/

I'm looking forward to this game and I can't wait to try it out. I will probably choose a copper, I just hope that there is roughly equal amounts on both sides.

I presumed that the Servers were in UK(I'm not in Beta so don't quote) as the game is being developed in the UK...I myself can't wait for it!

I was on the last beta a month or so back, not been invited to the latest one :(
And it definitely showed promise, one I am keeping an eye on at least. My only big concerns are that it was almost unplayable during the beta I was on due to lag etc and it still looked like it needed a lot of work. Nothing that can't be fixed but I'm surprised they even started a beta test in that state.
My other concern is that I'd get bored of it quickly, like I always seem to do with any of the GTAs I've played, if it just ends up being a 'go to point a, do thing, go to point b' type of game with a bit of dress up your doll thrown in.

Though I think with a good community behind it and if you get into a good clan or get a good group of friends to regularly play it with you then it could be something special.

Servers are in UK. Devs are in Scotland I think it is. Same company that did Crack Down on the 360.
