All Points Bulletin

Last time I played it back in October when I was still at rtw it was comming along well but I though the core gunplay needed somework was great fun when the whole office was playing :)

General impression I get from people is that it's very fun but very unstable/laggy atm. That's what betas are for though :) Shows great promise.

Shows great promise.

It really doesn't, I'm afraid. I was quite excited about this game but it is laggy, devoid of any content beyond: "Go here, shoot/rob/stop/pick-up, repeat ad nauseam" and the hit reg is terrible. I'm far from an FPS pr0, but it is glaringly obvious, even to me. They have spent too much time on the decoration and forgotten all about the game play.

The pricing system might mean it's worth a punt, just to play every now and again, but I won't be bothering.

Also played this for a bit and will definitely not be purchasing, the screenshots above are nice with a cool looking city and a general feeling of life in the area.

In reality when playing there are no un-hijacked cars, no alive pedestrians. Its great when you're walking along a street and some car comes skidding round a corner and flips sending dudes flying out with a cop car chasing up behind it. Its something pretty special and looks awesome at that point, now imagine thats all that happens, all the time. Every car you see is flipping with guns blazing, if a pedestrian spawns theyre gunned down by 50 people instantly or just run over, when the "whoah that was cool" things become the norm ..... they get very mundane indeed.

I will be playing the game to "clan up" as an enforcer and take down some criminals :)

I think this is one of those games whereby you will get a let from it if you play it a certain way.

It is not your standard MMO, if you play it like so, you maybe slightly miffed.

That is its draw for me though, I dont like your "normal" MMO's as the whole Mythical theme ticks me right off and I would say the majority are based on Gnomes, Dungeons and ******* dragons.

I wanted APB to be great, but it was awful in pretty much every way. Performance, visuals, structure. I love GTA, Saint's Row, Crackdown etc and couldn't believe how much the ball had been dropped here.

The good side - it shows how good a game of this type could be. One day we're going to get something kick ass!

I dont understand I was looking at the Steam pre-order.

You get unlimited time in the social thing and 50hours in the action...

So does that mean you are paying for this game by the hour ?!?

Looks like they're doing something different with traditional MMO pricing model

Definitely.

The game has two "Zones" when playing.

The "Social" district and the "Action" District.

You can access the Social district and chat to friends, customise your character, trade items etc even if you have no game time currently active.

The Action district is where you get to do the good stuff like missions etc. To access this, you will need game time.

Now, you can either purchase a monthly game card, or buy a card with so many hours access for the Action District.

It is giving people choice which is far from a bad thing.

The fact you can still logon and chat to friends and trade etc without having any gametime is nice.

OK, where the **** is the download link for this? I got sent a beta key from someone on here and I can't for the life of me find where to make an account and download this game.

I still keep hovering above the pre-order button on steam. It looks like it could be amazing fun.

But I dunno, for 30quid I guess its worth a bash I mean you get the free 50hours in action district.

But the main thing putting me off is the lag issues mentioned in the beta thread. Sounds quite dodgy.

On that thought if anyone does happen to have a spare ABP beta key I would love to have a "demo" of it before buying it. Email in trust :)

I haven't tried the beta in about two months or so - but it was still laggy - this is probably the only thing stopping me from buying it because it did look like it'd be a lot of fun without the lag...

I absolutely love the customisation in this game. You can literally spend hours just creating tattoos, logos, ingame music, customising clothes and cars and creating your character to be exactly what you want them to be. The level of freedom with the tools is just incredible.

I think the main problem with the game is that everyone will automatically compare it to GTA and it isn't quite as polished as GTA. The driving style is probably one of the biggest let down for me, but you can get used to it after a while. The FPS element isn't terrible but could do with some work and a bit of balancing here and there.

The mission content is a bit repetitive and I think that is probably going to be their main issue. It is literally go here, press f, go back to here, collect this, drop it off here...over and over again.

If they work on adding more content to the gameplay I think it could definately be a great MMO.

I played in the beta and although lag often made it unplayable, the times when there was no lag I still wasn't that impressed. It's decent enough and you'll get a certain amount of fun out of it, but would I pay a monthly sub? no.

ahhh I think I might just pass on this then to be honest. I mean there is no real need for me to buy it for release. Plus I got starcraft 2 next month and I pre-ordered the special edition of that :p

So I think I might just hold off and wait to see what the general empression is like.
