All the Eggs + The Wrong Basket

I can't feel sorry for anyone that risks investing their cash over a savings account. If you can't afford to lose 15 years of savings then don't invest it.

I don't know about you but not sure last time I saw an advert telling me to go eat broccoli.

If you do see anything "health" related it's supplements or workout devices, again baiting you into ********.

lots of diet programs "super food" diet plans, organic shops.

there is a hell of a lot of advertising for that kind of stuff.

Problem is when it comes down to it people are lazy ***** and want something that givers them results without the effort.

Pensions are portfolios of stocks and bonds normally, they spread the risk. This was people investing all they have into a company which was almost entirely revenue dependent on a single customer. Idiocy.

Sigh.......

I know it's peoples faults, but whose fault is it also for putting ideas of riches in their heads and selling them this idea they can invest and make a nice return.

Blame lies everywhere....

I hate this kind of ****, I really REALLY do. It reminds me of gambling addicts and how people blame the gambler yet you have 10 betting shops in the high street all offering cut throat offers to bait you in and get you to gamble.

The problem with this society there is **** that is just CONSTANTLY baiting you in..... Look at fast food, HERE EAT THIS HAMBURGER THAT SCREWS UP YOUR HEALTH! quick take it! you don't see them shoving broccoli in your face telling you how eating it will give you mental clarity and a well functioning body.....

This is also true... I agree, I went on a side tangent. They really need to do their research also not get too greedy, but in the case of the woman with the disabled son she just followed some advice from someone which turned out to be really really bad, I sympathise with her.

Have you heard of the term "personal responsibility"?

Yeah safest investment probably in bricks and mortar at the moment, even that won't be completely safe but it's gotta be a better bet than gambling all on some random shares :D

Tell that to people living in Ireland and Spain.......

Insider Selling At GT Advanced Technologies Inc As Participants Request Privacy

CEO and production chief sold in advance of problems at the company being publicly announced, as participants still seek privacy in the case

The GT Advanced Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:GTAT) mystery is being pealed back like an onion and it is starting to reek of insider trading.

The stock price of GT Advanced experienced with heavy selling volume around September 9, the day Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced that it was not using the company as a supplier in their new iPhone 6 product. Selling then exploded as the bankruptcy was publicly announced and the stock price cratered on October 6.

Did they really think they could get away with that?

I'm well aware what they invest in, it was a response to Muz333 saying he has no sympathy to anyone that invests outside of a savings account.

This is what happens when people play around at stocks/shares based on information found on a forum!

Any decent investor would not have had their entire life savings pumped into a single company with practically only one customer!

Unless you are incredibly lucky or inside, serious money is hardly ever made by small time investors. It should be viewed as betting on horses and done for fun. These people putting all there money in are stupid and driven by naive greed. I know lots of traders and all of them will tell you it's a game and for most a losing one. Make a few grand can be nice but proper life changing money is not going to happen for 99.999% of people who dabble. I've also seen clever people get sucked in by the next big thing.
