Nice setup. :) Is that just a hobby or do you go out DJing?

Just a hobby, Dj'd various after parties during my uni days but I've been buying up some vinyl again recently so thought I'd spin a few tunes and upgrade my stereo system over the next few months. With the next lot of records arriving I think I'll have about 460 singles and albums altogether. Need to get a vinyl cleaner as well cos some of the stuff I've bought has other peoples grubby thumb marks on them which I'd never do! :p

Picked up a Thorens TD180 a few weeks back. I know it's not a patch on the 160 and the like but it's in immaculate condition, still has the plastic film over the panels, can't bring myself to peel it off, it's been there 20 years or something!

Just have a cheapo pre-amp running into the Onkyo 616 and B&W MT-1 system. Sounds lovely :) Hopefully get my hifi/electronics geek friend to make a build a nice clean pre-amp for me soon.

Some great shots guys, nice one!
Doesn't move me enough to want to change from my existing streaming solution (which sounds fabulous), but all the same, does ping the heart.

Sold my Technics SL 150 a while back and picked up this nice little beauty................................havn't been able to stop playing vinyl since :D

I have a Gyro SE with QC PSU, SME IV, XLO reference tonearm cable, Ortofon Rohmann and MC10 Supreme carts, phono stage's are Sonic Frontiers SFP-1 valve and EAR 834P.

Used to have quite a lot of records, but with three kids I ended up getting rid of over half of them.

Gyrodec's are hypnotically pleasing to look at - I remember a dealer telling me that he had one spinning away in the window and a woman came in and bought it simply to look at!!!!

No change just add ;) .... My Streaming solution sounds pretty good too ;)(KDS)... But then the LP12 just sounds so compelling.....

Ok confession time, since I posted those pictures over a year ago it's been back to the dealers.... It's now maxed out, with new arm and cartridge....

Lets see some photo's!!!

:D

A few historical ones as well......

In the beginning it was with a Black plinth....

Then on my home made set up and servicing rig.....

For a while I used it with a spare plinth I got off eBay, was black but I stripped it back to natural colour.

Then I switched to the classic fluted afromosa deck after I had refurbished it.

Then around last Christmas time I heard of an exdem cartridge at one of the dealers I trust in my area.... Sound Cinergy... The Linn cart hadn't been on my plans due to crazy high cost, was going for another Lyra as mine was well worn and many years old..... But the exdem "discount" got me tempted so I jumped... ...Still a crazy cost...

Now that I had committed to the top cart.... to then not finish the job off with the latest version of my arm proved to tempting...
Couple of weeks ago after chatting with Peter at Cymbiosis he had an exdem arm becoming available. So the deal was done..... and back the deck went for new arm and tune up.

As far as official upgrades go it's now maxed out...... I'll not go for some of the 3rd party items.... plinths and top plates etc..... I have a few of my own designs to develop for those :D
It's been a 25 year journey with my LP12... OK could be seen as "Triggers Broom" ... The top plate and the lid is original :p
