Has any1 tried OCing the e6300/6400 in the P5W? and if so r the results good compared to OCing in a P965 (say DS4)? i only ask cos this seems to be the only viable dual gfx card (x-fire compatible) setup!
Mine arrives tomorrow so can let you know then if no one has replied yet. My poor 6300 looks so lonely sitting in front of me
From what i've read this board will only go up to about 400/410 fsb and the 6300 has a multiplier of 7 so there'll be no absolutely huge overclocks with that combo likely arround 2.8Ghz which is still pretty good though. Although i'm a bit confused after reading a chart on another forum earlier that had some people on it with over 3Ghz using the 6300 and the P5W
Sorry no link, i've been browsing god knows how many forums tonight and it was a link i clicked on that took me there i have absolutely no idea even of the name of the forum. Thats what i get for having history disabled
Someone else on here will prolly be able to comment more on 6300's and the P5W over 3Ghz though.
My first tentative steps with this combo (6300/P5W-DH) have gotten me to 2.33GHz with only a simple FSB upping from 266 to 333........easy ! So, will be going for more over the next few days (wifety permitting ), I believe the max FSB of this board is 450, so you are looking at circa 3.15GHz theoretical max.....it has been said that Clockgen will get it to 500 FSB (3.5GHz), but the issue is likely to be the Northbridge stability at such high FSB speeds....
