allocation unit size - formatting hard disks

If you use too small a size then a lot of resources are needed to administer the file system, too large and you might end up with a lot of wasted space. It will depend slightly on what you are going to be using the drive for (e.g mainly large or small files) but going from Raid use I think 32k or 64k is the normal compromise. :)
