I did use the search function, but i could not find what i wanted.

How much would it cost to get a set of 4 alloys refurbed?

seen a set of wheels I want, but they are curbed, but cheap, was wondering if it be worth buying them and getting them refurbed or pay double and get some mint ones?

depends on A) the size and B) how good a job you want.

You can have it done on the cheap, where they just apply some paint over the top of the existing finish to hide the marks. This will probably look ok, but isn't very resilient and most of these repairs usually start falling apart in a year or two

Or you can strip them back to bare metal, and re paint them from scratch. But this is likely to cost at least £200 for a set of 4.

I had some 18s acid dipped and painted back up by lepsons, cost 125 each. Since then I accidentally kerbed one and had a mobile repair done. Guy commented Lepsons had done an outstanding job. For 16s I guess 100 per wheel for full dip sounds reasonable if condition is bad.

That seems expensive..

Granted, mine were 15's, but I had the same thing done, and the guy fitted valves + my new tyres for me for £255 (for all 4)

I recently paid £360 for 4x18" to be properly refurb'd. Very happy with the outcome, though for that price I was expecting to be!

Agree, it was expensive, it was some 18" OZ Golf R32 alloys that I had done, back to factory finish which is a chrome like effect, and the alloys have many spokes, 13 I think. Price included strip, finish, tyre fitting and balancing.

The mobile repair I had done cost 40 quid, so in comoarison makes 125 look cheap.

I suspect powdercoating or a simpler painted finish may have been cheaper.

Mobile repair on my 17s were £30 a corner. They were marked in a few places so just needed a general refurb. As mentioned, you're looking several times that for a 'full' refurb.

thanks guys for all your input

The wheels I want tend to go at around £350/£400 if they are in mint or near mint condition

someone is advertiseing the same wheels for £200 or near offer, but the way i see it is this

If I buy second hand wheels, they will probabaly need a refurb anyway, or ofcourse, if i damage them, then refurb would be nice, so im thinking if i get the cheap ones, and then when my car is starting to look a lot better condition, then ge the wheels refurbed

what do you think ?

Definitely get the £200 wheels and them get them refurbed

they will work out about £500 ish and be better than new.
