Alpe d'Huez

Been twice, usually round February/March time.

Great resort with plenty of variation and good snow record. The bottom runs are wide and great for beginners.

Not sure what its like at the time of year you are going.

The Oz run is one of the best alpine stretches I have done and I still can't put my finger on why. I left some gloves on the cable car there, let me know if you find them ;)

Be warned that the 16km Sarenne run isn't snowboard friendly, as there are moguls a plenty and crests that are difficult to make it up without sticks. I can remember one where I've been the fastest i've ever been on my T6 and I only just made it up. It does however have to be done.

Been twice, First of season (no snow) and Easter (snow)

Once with ample snow, so plenty of slopes to cover. Make sure you take full face cover if going up to the glacier, I remember it was rather exposed and cold up there. Night slope is a little attraction but not worth it really. If there's enough snow and not too windy, the long black Sarenne I believe was a good run.

Second time didn't have a lot of the snow, so quite a few of the lower slopes weren't open, and the competition and night slopes were out of use too (as they are directed into the sun all day).

Still a nice town, good selection of hotels and worth going to.

i have been there for a weeks skiing myself!! excellent resort, had a great time, a few great runs, especially the 22km (or so) black run running from the top of one of the mountains...only black really for first couple of hundred metres and after that a great run to chill out on, and was quiet when i was on it even knowing it was french half term!
Decent size ski area, kept me entertained for a week

*edit: long black is the same as others a talking about, the sarenne

I will keep an eye out for you :)

Sounds pretty good, I've been Serre Chevalier, Andorra and Bulgaria before. Im a little worried about the snow at Christmas time though. When I went Andorra it was at Christmas time and their wasn't one little bit of real snow, all fake stuff from the snow cannons. :(

I've been there twice, both at a Christmas. It is an amazing place. The trip up to the town is interesting as you get to see all the Tour d'France markings. The food there is a really good and people are nice too.

Overall, I wish I could go back =[

What was the snow like at Christmas?

Half way up - good times :D

Make sure you get on the skylift then, you'll love it haha :p

The lifts aren't that bad, I can close my eyes and get on with it. Although last year the door on the little pod thing didn't shut, I wasn't to pleased with that.

In Bulgaria there were huge drops of the side of the slope with no fence, that really scared me.

Is a great resort, I went to the outdoor pool in the middle of a snowstorm one Christmas, a strange but wonderfull experience.

HOWEVER, owing to the French rule of "SPEEDOS ONLY" - I had to "Hire" a pair - LOL

The Viallge at the bottom of the resort is worth a visit, Bourg d'oisan.

Some very nice restaurants. Look around, there are some great ones in the backstreets.

Be warned though, a taxi there and back in the winter may be costly.

Been there loads of times, probably one of the better french resorts!

A very large ski area, and depending upon where you stay you can sometimes ski right back to your front door :)

Obviously not as good as Whistler (been there twice) but still very good
