I get a day at Serre Chevalier on my lift pass as well which should bring back some memories.
I went to Serre Chevalier in '07. Was the worst snowboard holiday i've ever been on and I won't be going again.
Was mainly due to the (lack of) snow, and the resultant slush/ice conditions, made the trip an unpredictable nightmare.
We took a friend who had never been snowboarding before, and he'll probably never go again as a result.
I first knew it was all going wrong when we pulled into the resort and I said "This had better not be the ******* resort" - there was literally no snow, it was like I had just walked out my own front door.
Anyways, like I said, the snow was crap, and higher up was just hard packed with plenty of ice. Our beginner was constantly on his backside after hitting ice patch after ice, which was a confidence destroyer.
You can only blame so much on the snow conditions. However, the two runs back into the resort were incredibly beginner unfriendly and compounded with the conditions were terrible.
The left most entry was reasonably steep and coupled with ice was treacherous. The other route back was a slushfest which required you to build up a lot of straight line speed otherwise you simply wouldn't make it back into the resort.
The nightlife was also comparatively dead compared to the other french resorts i've been in. Alpe D'huez was like london in millenium new year in comparison.
Not sure why I've rambled on so much about it - shows how much that years boarding ****** me off.
Its the only year I haven't organised the holiday as well. Never again.
