Alpha Protocol is pretty good after all

Just played a few hours of it, through the intro and the first mission in saudi arabia. It's brilliant for the price - if you can get past the patchy AI and (sometimes) odd controls, there's a pretty cool spy game to get your teeth into. Definitely one for people who like reading the background stuff, there's loads of story there, and the usual Obsidian character interactions and choices that affect the story, kotor 2 style.

If you're buying it as a run and gun shooter, you won't be really impressed. But if you like story in your games, defiinitely.

Not so far. Biggest bug I've seen, and it drove me spare until I realised what was happening, was the 'place' key not working in computer hacking. Had to remap it off the keypad before it would work.

View jumps a bit sometimes too, but no so much that it's bothered me much.

Do Obsidian have any game testers on their staff? Every single game of theirs that I have played have been riddled with bugs. The stories in their games often don't make sense either since chunks have been stripped out.

Games Pretty neat imo. just that i hate how once alarm goes its more of a shooter :( Which sucks if you do well with stealth but an AI comes running around corner and lets alarm off!

Though I really hate the hacking Especially the Computer hacking! :mad:"

game combat is like hitman, your meant to be stealthy but most off the tiem your just shooting everyone. Sadly teh guns suck in the game.

Played some more tonight done most off Moscow then headed over to Tapie...game is not bad, its just not very polished.

Bump for anyone who got this in the sale and is having horrible stuttering / view going all over the place issues :

Open "APEngine.ini" located at "X:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Alpha Protocol\APGame\Config" and change the following:
UseBackgroundLevelStreaming=false
OnlyStreamInTextures=true
OneFrameThreadLag=False

It was the only thing stopping me enjoying the game, the story is really well done, the acting fantastic, and for the first time in ages a game actually caught me by surprise by some of the things it's thrown at me - I totally didn't see the twist coming when trying to stop the assassination in Taipei.

Anyone kno of any mods that make the hacking easier, I really hate that bit and wen I re-install to actually finish it, I'd rather not have to do it

I had to youtube the hacking the first time I came up against it, it was really, really badly explained. Almost never causes me problems now though, I'm not sure if putting points into technical aptitude has given me more time or something.

I was also getting really good at the alarm disabling mini-game, but now the game has started throwing new circuit boards at me that just melt your eyes :(
