Alpine Ipod Only Units

I am considering this HU as my Boost Radio System could do with changing as the lead is ancient and wires are starting to pull.

I've wanted in car Bluetooth for a while and now that I have a phone with voice dialing again this HU seems ideal.

Has anyone had experience with these Ipod only units? are they better than those with CD mechenisms or is it just a bit of a gimmick from Alpine?

I have an Alpine IDA-X305 (USB/Radio only like that one) and I can't say I ever miss being able to put CDs in. In fact I cant remember the last time I played music from a CD. If you've got an iPod then there's no point having it

I've got the X305S and it's great, I just ripped all my CDs to my iPod and never looked back. Don't miss the CD slot in the slightest.

iPod charging comes in handy too like today as I've used my iPhone a lot and the battery was almost dead, just plugged it in for the journey home and charged up by the time I got back home.

Nicely done, I'd have spent a bit more on one with a colour LCD though, the screen was one of the best things about the x001 I had

Ive got an X305 and swear by it. Ive not missed CDs at all, infact ive preferred not having to carry them, its so nice just plonking your ipod in the glove compartment and just leaving it there.

You can use the head unit with a phone, meaning you do dont need a seperate kit. IIRC it will pull your contacts list up too so when you hit the phone button on the headunit itll list your contacts to ring them.
