I have just cleaned my trusty Zalman Ramsinks as the thermal tape was getting a little worn.

I do not have any thermal tape as of yet and wondered if using a good sticky thermal paste like AS5 would keep the ramsinks stuck on or am I going to have to get some more tape?

AS5 on it's own won't keep ramsinks on firmly.

I used to apply AS5, but also a couple of very small dabs of superglue
in the corners of the ramsink. It always worked fine for me.

I would need a hacksaw to get the ramsinks off then :D

I have read in some reviews that the Ramsinks don't really do a good job anyway.

I could get mine off quite easy when I needed to.
Just warm the card up, then gently twist the ramsink off.

I did the turning thing when they were on my 7900GS and it buggered the card up.

I currently have the GPU Memory idle at 40c

It doesn't go above 52c. Not sure if its worth it tbh.

Oh the joys of modding

i used normal double sided sticky tape on my Accellero S1 and the 8800 gt

been fine.

Mix TIM with Epoxy 50/50 or bit less, like AS5 and AS Epoxy, it will remove if you force it at a later date and even easier if you pop in the freezer for 2 hours.

AS5 on its own will do the job, it acts in the same way as sticking two sheets of glass with water. I stuck on a northbridge heatsink using just AS5 and it's been hanging in a vertical position for over 1 year now. AS5 goes harder after a while and it sticks stuff pretty well. You need to put a very thin layer of it and press the heatsink firmly and move it around slightly to sqeeze away any excess AS5 .

Thats complete Madness, and if it fell of it could short the whole Rig.

Well it worked for me with ramsinks and chipset heatsink and never had any accidents. If you want to play it safe then stick it with something stronger.
