Alternate Fuel

I would dearly love that article to be true, but I'll hold off on breaking out the champagne until I see it come true.

Also, while the car's engine won't need modifying, other parts of the car will. For a start, there needs to be a separate exhaust tank to hold the spent "micro-beads", which will have to be emptied from time to time. Where are you going to put this secondary tank? You'll need to make more modifications just to make room for it. Also, as mentioned, it seems likely that all metal parts between the engine and the exhaust will need to be protected against rust.

And finally, even if this new fuel does make into production, don't expect the price at the pump to be a great deal cheaper than petrol. The government will notice too many people abandoning petrol to use the new stuff, so they'll impose taxes to make it just as expensive. Politicians are good at coming up with excuses to tax things.

Personally, I reckon it'll be electric cars that replace petrol. We're not there yet, but it seems the only remaining problems are range and charging time. Those will be solved eventually.
