Alternative medal table

The tables need updating! We've got so many medals now, it was always obvious USA and China would tie up 1st and 2nd, but if we get 3rd I think that will be amazing!

I found this bit interesting

On top of that, says Johnson, host countries can expect to win 18 more medals than usual at their own Games, and enjoy a lesser spike in the years before and after.

"There is a legacy effect," says Johnson, "so in the subsequent two games, we see a mini spike of about five [extra] medals overall in the two subsequent Olympics."

The radio show I linked to earlier is worth listening to. A few factors you may not have thought of, also it's not the full half hour, it's less than 10 minutes right at the start of the programme. It then moves on to guns in america.
