Hi guys,

Been playing around with WP, hosting it with 000webhost.

Registered an account, but had daily, even hourly database errors, so i registered another account and the problems went away...

Or at least i thought...

The mysql servers have been down over 24 hours and there's not even a mention of the problem on their site.

I've had nothing but differing errors since signing up on both accounts (although the second was initally good)....

Numerous posts by disgruntled members having all sorts of issues, and the responses seem few and far between, more often then not the suggestion is 'Buy our premium service'... which tells me something about the quality of service...

Now i know what your first response will be, buy some webspace? Easy right, well no, this is just for messing around on and i'm outta wonka... the site is for personal projects that will generate zero revenue, so why would i want to pay for something that returns nothing... makes no sense..

Please someone tell me they know another host that can offer mysql and php for free?....

For now i work on WP locally, but it would be nice to have some of my code online to show off.....

Strange thing is i find virtually nothing but good things said about 000webhost, yet i and it would appear quite a few others have had nothing but problems with the service.

I think i know the typical answers to expect here, and i'm proberly the kind that would have replied with them before to....

Humour me please? ;)

I had similar problems with 000webhost, their service was unreliable and intermittant - which, although it's free, isn't very good, i've used free hosting before and it's been slow granted, but it always worked.

I just moved to TSOHost, can't recommend them highly enough, basic £3/month package and it just works, it's much faster too!

I didn't want to have to pay for a zero income site either, as previously i hosted it myself (having a physical server is useful for lots of things and is expensive for proper dedi packages), but i can't really complain £3 is naff all.

Well it can't hurt to ask...

I'll ask about a few contacts, i'm sure if i ask nicely enough i can get someone to give me a bit of space, i thought i'd just post incase there are some alternatives...

Honestly though, i know the answers to expect with this kind of thread... :)

www.site5.com were my last host, US host, but great host.....

Well as you expected, ( :) ) i'll say the obvious. How anyone can complain about a totally free no ads service is totally beyond me. For how little good hosting costs nowadays there's no need to use free hosts (although when i used 000webhost for about a month I thought they were fine generally - even if they did suspend my site for directly linking to a 600KB zip file :) ).

As an example, I'm with tsohost too. I pay £4.99 pm with support for ASP/ASP.NET/PHP and a MySQL/MS SQL databases (I think its called their 'hybrid' package).

Must say I've used several hosts over the years and tsohost are the best - whatever silly time I email their support team I always get a response. Can't fault them after being with them for close to 2.5 - 3 years.

Like you, I use my hosting mainly for personal stuff and therefore don't genrate any money from it. But I think for £5 pm its worth it.

Totally agree, but i don't have the funds to pay for webspace, that's why i said humour me... :(

Given a choice i'd likely go back to site5, they were a faultless host in the time i used them, they helped with scripts, answered tickets within 10-15 minutes and the price was better even with the conversion rate.

It's not an option right now, or else i'd not have asked.......

Think i'll start asking a few contacts... ;)

Well, it's a clear case of what you pay for unfortunately.

000webhost were obv. going to become overloaded at some point :)

Honestly can't think of many free hosts that offer php/mysql.

might wanna try qiq they routinely offer their premium £20 a year package at at discount think the offer is on at the min makes it about 5 - 7 pound for the year, loads of space and bandwith

Thanks all, and thanks Jim taking a look at Purge...

Might be sutied for toying on, only downside is i can't park my domain with them...

It's ok, all sorted now thanx to wonder_lander....
