Alternatives to Alphatelecom

I like the setup of alphatelecom, I have an account that I can access from any phone and call abroad cheaply, my parents keep the account topped out so I never have to pay if I want to call home.

Anyway my flatmate wants something similar but I already have the CLI set up to automatically go to my account from our flat phone, so if there was an almost identical company that would be cool,

What is the setup exactly, is it a regular BT line, where do you call home? Where do you call abroad?
