Hey guys,

tonight is CS, soon as my frames drop from a solid 144hz to anything below, i mean, very little, even 130-135 for that slit second, i get stuttering..

just the same as i was getting in BFV soon as the FPS dropped..but to happen in a fairly "undemanding" game like CS GO..?

Can someone give me some input?

im on a VEGA 56 and have latest drivers etc..

everything at stock? (apart from the VEGA undervolt).

You using FRTC from the drivers to cap frame rate? You a Freesync Monitor?

There could be quite a few reasons for this to happen. I would get some graphs going with something like afterburner to see what your pc is up too. I could be something silly like a MS update or a virus check going on. If you find out it’s not that have a look at your Cards temps to see if it is throttling.

sorry mate, whats FRTC? and i believe its a freesync monitor..but, i cant find the FS option?? only "adaptive snyc"? monitor is : Hannspree HG324QJB 32"

Im sure my PC isnt updating as its even with the slight fps drop it happens.. and regarding the GPU, its peaking at 72c, and low fan speed and not 100% GPU load at any point..

make sure cs go has a profile in watman (top right hand coner add profile select csgo shortcut if not already done)
go into the profile diable the frame rate cap instead set chill on and set the lower and max to 144 - the frame rate limiter will re-enable itself, re-disable it.
once chill is enabled and framerate limiter disabled, come out of the profile. go into global settings, then global wattman and make sure the GPU p7 state has the word 'Max' above, if not right clcik state p7 and slect 'Max', do the same for the memory p3 state.
let us know how you get on.
edit: freesync if supported on your monitor will be in the 'Display' tab at the bottom, once clicked you will see 'AMD Freesync'. if not and you are sure you have a freesync monitor, make sure you are using a display port cable as the majority of monitors require display port for freesync to work.

Mmmm Its the first time I have seen a monitor not call it Freesync. This I believe is a Freesync monitor.

If you open up Radeon settings and click display do you see Freesync? Turn it on, or hover mouse over it should give you a Freesync Range.

Monitor must be connected by DisplayPort Cable btw

Frame Rate Target Control "FRTC" is AMDs driver frame rate cap tbh The reason I asked is because I dont like how this works with Freesync enabled. A much better way is either Cap the games frame rate with the engine "Game" or a better way is use Radeon Chill setup a profile for the games and set the min and max Frame rate to 135fps You can also enable Globally AMD Enhanced Sync + Freesync is excellent.

thanks for the replies guys..

FS is turned on in the drivers software and i cap the games (BFV and CS GO) to 144hz in game..also im using a decent DP cable too. going to look in to your ideas now...

once more idea, if previous tip didnt work, go into your csgo profile and set p7 to both the min and max do the same for p3 on the memory.
to clarify, is adaptive sync the SAME as freesync? i think thats why its not working fully? its not FS or FS.2 etc...?
no its all adaptive sync, but is referred to by AMD as freesync

here is the profile standard for CS GO?

ok first you need to go into the global profile and enable 'chill' sorry missed that bit out previously. then come back to the profile and do as mentioned previously.

doing that now mate, what about AMD FreeSync, should it still be AMD optimised or put onto "on"?
