I have an ageing pc (but still runs well) running Windows 10 (too old for Windows 11) and each time I update windows It says its done it. Then the next day or so it says I need to update it - it then reinstalls the same update and thwen its OK untill the next month - and the process repeats??

Anybody selse suffer this?

Happened to me a few times years ago, updates was probably corrupted and reinstalled same update sometime fixed it. When that solution not worked, I tried disk tool Windows Update Clean-up to deleted files, run DISM Cleanup-Image and sfc/ scannow repaired it successfully.

Not so much with Windows update
But constantly does it with a driver update
Intel networking and forgot the other one
Usually takes about 6 attempts before it succeeds
That's on 11

And depends how old it is
There's ways to put 11 on hardware that's older
By bypassing the windows 11 requirements

I have run into similar problems. Old PC, did a Win 11 update earlier in the year using Rufus to overcome the blocks, but reverted to Win 10 after a few days.

However I have had constant issues with Windows Update failing to grab or successfully install files to the point where it's choking the PC. Something fairly major borked as opening Task manager only lists the immediate apps running not all those underneath. So having run sfc /scannow, now doing DISM with a mounted Win 10 Iso file (first DISM attempt fell over) which has just finished!

Ideally i want to get Win 11 on there again but an attempt earlier today hung on the first reboot screen. Hoping the repair might fix that. Ultimately I need a new PC as this one is an ancient potato by any measure, but still putting together an investment case for the missus!
