Always stick to the speed limit...

I once ran into the road without looking, i was very silly.

It was my fault, i didnt moan at the driver. I was lucky to be alive, and much wiser.

Dont go mental at th driver, can you honestly say you have never broken the speed limits? If you can, then i bet you dont drive.....

Ok let me get this right? Your mate (not trying to pin the blame here) got hit by a car that was coming round a corner to fast. Now if this car was "ragging" it then surely this would have been easy to hear ( stop, look and listen ) also it must have been a pretty tight corner for someone to come round at 45mph and hit your mate before he had a chance to get away, unless the driver wasn't paying attention. Was it in a suburb or something?

Let's imagine that your friend stepped out into the road when the car was 100 feet distant, about 6 car lengths away. At 30 MPH, 44 feet/second, it would take the car 1.51r seconds to reach the point of impact. At 45 MPH, 66 feet/second, it would take the car 2.27r seconds to reach the point of impact. If the car'd been traveling at the speed limit and made no course modifications it would have given your friend 0.75r more seconds to evade.

Would he have been able to evade in that time?

put that into google map, you see the bend in the road coming from the top down, he looked, walked for about 2-3 seconds and stepped out, if he stuck to the speed limit, he would have easily managed to get out of the way. Me mates fault for being reckless but his fault for driving too fast...

o dear

seriously people wtf, i dont even know what to say

how was i blaming the driver.. and he stepped out as the road was clear when he first looked but as he was going to fast he went round the corner and me mate stepped out. It was a seat Ibiza S.

also if that person wasnt ragging his car he would hve been able to break in time, he wouldnt have got hit.. Whats with all the anger and stuff you bunch of fish

...

im sorry but you and your mate maybe need to learn how to cross roads again.

ive had it myself, driving down a road at 30mph, then some kid decides hes going to run across the road. I was inches from hitting the little **** who then decided to look at me as if I was wrong.

His mate however must have had good parents and was waiting for a gap to cross safely...

...Its people like your mate that causes stupid speed limits to be introduced because of idiots just walking infront of cars.

Road is for Cars.
Pavement is for PEOPLE.

Sounds like some proper calculations went into that.... :o

i appologise for the other thread,

i was just playing devils advocate.... and being a little sarcastic!

honest opinion,

drive to the road conditions and within the bounds of the law....

and hope your insurance payes out because of the other muppets on the road both pedestrian and vehicular

Hang on first off you said he didn't look now you are saying he did look?! Which is it?

Then first off you say the car was doing 45mph and now all of a sudden it was being ragged?

There's plenty of people who can have a discussion sensibly. You just don't like the direction the discussion has gone.

Blaming drivers for the action of pedestrians in (a) not looking properly and (b) not choosing a safe place to cross, while popular with the government, is not really going to go down well in a place where we look at the actual causes of accidents...
