Am i a bit late to be playing morrowind

Never too late to play such an excellent game - sure it won't have the same wow factor that it did back then since many newer games have caught up with a lot of the features, but it is still VERY good. Mod it with the graphical mod and it will look current too :)

Not too late at all, and with Morrowind Overhaul 2011 it looks absolutely fantastic. If you just go to their homepage and follow the instructions that should be all you need.

Just be prepared to be a little frustrated with combat at first (lots of clicking and not much hitting). There's probably a few guides on how best to design a character.

Stupid Overhaul mod messed me over. Setting it up all the way through, then realised it comes with MGEgui 3.8, not Rev186 and MGOO ended up borked. Then patch 1 was missing a Water file so I had to download it elsewhere, and I just gave up haha. I can't be bothered starting again, even if it does only take 20 minutes.

I'll wait for version 2.0 with the pure auto installer.

I played it briefly during its release and loved it. I did get bored back then as I was more of an FPS tart playing HLDM etc. I really should give it a go once I stop modding Oblivion over here! The menu music still sends a chill down my spine.

The graphics aren't the problem. Its the combat.

Its different to newer games, it uses a system based on dice rolls, you might find it a bit "awkward" if you haven't played something like that before.

Just remember it's way more of an RPG than Oblivion, if you don't have the right weapon skills for example you won't be able to hit anyone, even if you are hitting them on screen.

Actually, probably my favourite 'old' title, that has also happened to age well.

Same, although I put about 4 months playtime into it "back in the day" lol. Don't use a guide though as you'll lose so much about what made the game actually great, aka paying attention and exploring. The main storyline isn't anything like oblivions where your forced into it. In morrowind you have to find it and decide if you want to do it or not. You can play the game completely around the storyline if you wanted to or just go for the "main questline" and do side missions ect in the places it takes you.
