Am i a grumpy old git with a point..or a grumpy old git without a point..

Illness is a fine way to describe a hangover - same as smokers getting lung cancer. I'm a smoker, and if I get lung cancer I'd consider myself ill. If i get a hangover, I'm ill - I'm not well, that's for sure. Thinking someone's less ill because they brought it upon themselves is misguided - whether they deserve the same level of sympathy or not isn't even a question.

Your kidding right?

I agree with the op
but i can drink whatever i want an ddont get a hangover, ive always wondered why peopl ewho know that getting that drunk will make them ill do it because i wouldnt

Do you or do you not, the majority of time you talk to other people, knowingly or unknowingly, ask:
"You alright?"
"How are you today mate?"
"How's it going?"
"iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite blood?!"
Or a variation of any?
Everybody does, and the only time people say "Yeah" or "I'm alright, you?" is when they are either ill or hungover.
Just don't ask people? Ever?
They might think your an obnoxious grumpy old git, but you'll never have to hear how well or unwell anyone is ever again.
If this fails, just go away.

I'm so happy for you.

But we are talking to the OP, who isn't a Sunday-working investment banker.
im glad i made you happy, now in happy, so now im even happier at work, does it get any better

OP, your friend sounds like an imbecile. Your girlfriend also sounds like she's very hard work. If ever there was a time for you to turn to the drink, I'd suggest now is as good as it gets :D

Power to you my fellow worker of the night*.
*assuming when you said "i'm even happier at work" you were actually at work when you said it.

And OP, i agree with you wholeheartedly. Anyone who i know purposely planned on getting properly wasted gets nothing but distain from me if they try to complain about the after effects. I'll even talk loudly and turn the volume up on the music/tv. Yes i'm that petty. If however they say "cor my heard hurts after all that booze" but continue to struggle on then they get respect for not being a lazy idle scumbag.

I've never had a hangover so therefore i have never needed to moan about having one!

failing that instead of moaning about it, go & hand her some paracetamol's

Unfortunately if you don't get wasted at every opportunity, then you're a loser with no life, according to my work colleagues. >_>;

I've had hangovers, and usually feel sorry for myself. But I don't make status updates whining about it, or look for sympathy from people. Self-inflicted = deal with it yerself!

I get tired of other people's drunken woes.

Go out an enjoy yourself but jeez don't get totally screwed over by alcohol. Gets on my nerves when people start to complain, or are still under the influence and are being... obviously irrational.

cancer is an illness though hang over is just dehydration/poisoning :p

I agree with the OP. If someone knowingly takes toxic drugs for recreation in quantities that they know will probably make them ill as a result of poisoning, it's their own fault. They haven't done something admirable and they have deliberately damaged themselves doing it. They're not ill and they don't deserve the sympathy due to people who are ill. They're just fools who should have enough maturity to know better and enough intelligence to have learned from doing it before, but have neither.
