Hi guys.....I don't know what I would have done over the past week or so without the help of the members on here. And guess what.....I'm back again!!

I have been having problems after installing an ATi x1950pro AGP card. My system has shutting down when I have tried to start Pro Evo 2008. I'll list what I have done so far:

1) Removed Nvidia 6800gt and its drivers. Used Driver Cleaner Pro also.

2) Installed x1950 and data from the enclosed disc.

3) Removed ATi drivers and downloaded the latest 7.10 drivers from Catalyst. Used Driver Cleaner Pro and then installed 7.10.

Sadly, nothing has changed :( I am still getting the "system has recovered from a serious error" and the error report details are:

"C:\DOCUME~1\Dee\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WEReaaa.dir00\mini110807-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Dee\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WEReaaa.dir00\sysdata.xml"

Now on to the section were I think I may be a muppet :o

When I removed the 6800GT there was one "male" connection with one of the multi coloured cables connected to it.

On the x1950 there are 2 "male" connections but I have only connected the one multi coloured cable that had been connected to the 6800GT. I am thinking that the 1 free connection on the x1950 should somehow be connected too and this is somehow not powering the card fully, hence the shutdown  I could be talking complete balls but I just wanted to check with you guys. In the box of the x1950 there is a multi coloured cable that goes from a "one to a two". Should this be part of the equation?

Apologies for not knowing the technical terms but I am not very well up on the hardware side of PCs and I am continuously gathering info, so I would really, really appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Thanks for the replies lads. It was indeed that (I am slightly proud of myself for realising how much of a muppet I was!! :D )

Anyway, Pro Evo 2008 STILL won't run smooth on "high" settings so I am just going to bite the bullet and buy a new Q6600 rig with a 8800GT. If that doesn't work I'm gonna blow Konami up!!

Yeah as pointed out you need both, oh and they are called molex connectors by the way :D

:o:D I am learning......slowly.....but heading in the right direction!!

Pro Evo 08 would do your head in though!! I can't believe it still won't run on my system with a x1950pro installed (A64 3400+, 2gb ram, x1950pro).

Thanks again everyone :)

Easily done :)

Strange that the mobo did not tell you something was wrong.

When i first installed my old 6800 after upgrading from a 4200ti, i did not think to plug the molex in. The mobo went off like a fire alarm :D
