I bought a DVD today, checked it in the shop as far as possible but when I opened it up and the booklet is creased and the spine of the case is scuffed aver about 2".

I am considering taking it back for exchange, do you think I'm being petty? It was only £19.99.

Hmm, if its just the box damamged and the disk works i wouldnt be to bothered, but i can understand why you want it exchanged.

Did anyone read this 'am i pregnant'?

No.

You paid for it and it should be in perfect condition unless it was second hand but as its new then I'd take it back.

You paid £19.99 for a DVD.

Was it a boxset or something?

Should it be in perfect condition? Yes

But is it going to affect you? No

and is it worth the hassle? No

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just use the product instead of kicking up a pointless fuss? Yes.

[pedant]An isolated act of pedantry doesn't really make you a pedant I'm afraid, try a bit harder:)[/pedant]

No, I am being a pedant by pointing out that you aren't using the word pedant in the correct way.

I don't think it's too much to expect that when you buy a DVD that probably cost pence to manufacture that's it's in good nick when you get it. I do however feel it is almost impossible to prove that you didn't do it yourself.

But take it back, make a fuss and you'll probably get a result.

I have taken a CD back because there was a rip in the booklet and a crack in the case, but that was a few years ago and I wouldn't bother now.

Before long i'm gonna do that to it anyway by accident so its hardly worth the time. I used to be so careful about scratches, cracks all that kind of stuff with my cds putting them back in cases after each use but now i just lay them about it's much easier and more enjoyable as there's no worry.

It's just a dvd. who cares?

Did you go into the shop to buy a DVD or a DVD box? if the DVD works fine then I wouldnt have a problem.

at the end of the day due to you opening the DVD you will prob not be able to get a replacement anyway so id just live with it and make sure i didnt look at the insert

Personally I'd take it back and get it exchanged. I've sent a Spiderman 1&2 boxset back that arrived with a scratch on the outer cardboard cover, I expect items to be in perfect condition if I buy them new.

You wouldnt accept a brand new car if I'd been round it and kicked a couple of panels in for you first would you?

So no, your not being pedantic :p
