Am I a proper 'geek'?

I find it weird that anyone fits into a 'sterotype' or 'classification' of their personality and interests.

I love science fiction, I love video games, comic books, super heros and i collect stuff like transformers figures. I have nerdy t-shirts, spend hours and hours talking about these topics with friends.

However...

I am maddly into Ice Hockey and follow it constantly. I also follow NFL and F1 extensively. I play squash, Ice Hockey and Snowboard plus a host of other sports and I am competative in most of them. I'm also really into cars.

People in the past have said they are confused about me as I'm into nerdy stuff, and sporty stuff and they don't seem to understand how you can equally be both. Weird.

So what am I, and incredibly sporty nerd?

My wife is the same. Mega hot, into clothes, bags, shoes, keeping fit and all that but writes transformers fanfiction, wears nerdy clothes, plays games etc.

I like to refer to us as Symbionts.

Basically there is no such thing as a proerp nerd, a fake nerd or whatever other crazy term people keep inventing.

Ahh see this is where I disagree. The people on Big Bang Theory I regard as 'nerds' and, IMO, there is a difference.

Geek = someone with an interest in a particular field or fields and wants to increase their knowledge in them.

Nerd = Bespectacled, fantasy novel loving, asthma suffering, socially award person who may or may not have a knowledge in any one particular field.

this

My wife says I am a geek..I appear normal on the outside and its only if you stumble across the subject I am intensely passionate and interested in does the geek come forth.

being a nerd means you live your nerdiness in full view!
