I just found out Martin Kemp (AKA one of the Krays brothers and Eastenders bad guy) was/is in Spandau Ballet.

You are 21, why should you know?
So no you're not an idiot.

Aside from that it has been mentioned a fair few times? You're right though, not knowing doesn't make anyone an idiot although given how often it was mentioned that Martin Kemp was in Spandau Ballet I'm still slightly surprised to find people who don't know.
You're not an idiot.
You are gold, gold!
Do they actually mention it on Eastenders?
Where is it mentioned? - GMTV, Lorraine, Loose Women?
When Martin Kemp joined Eastenders I remember a big deal was made of his musical past in the media - i.e. via print, TV and radio so it was pretty difficult to escape. If you're old enough to have watched him in Eastenders at the time he was active then you can probably also remember that it was in the news pretty regularly. If on the other hand you just watched the soap and paid no attention to the news at all then perhaps you could miss it.
In answer to the first question, rather obviously not - do they mention that Barbara Windsor was in the Carry On films? No and that's because it's a set of fictional characters so any links to the real actors/actresses previous history is irrelevant to the stories - you're doubtless well aware of this but if you're going to ask such a question...

We could turn this around.
I have worked with Martin Kemp twice when I did the sound for his band in the very early days.
I obviously knew he was in The Krays and it's a film I would give 9/10.
I didn't know he was an actor in Eastenders because the last time Eastenders was on was about the first year it started and Den, Ange and Nick Cotton were in it.
I couldn't name one actor in it or who's been in it since the first year it started except for Barbara Windsor.
this is the craziest thing i heard here in a while. we're talking about an actor who was in a band (which i've never heard of before this threaD) and also in eastenders!
Ok, so you apparently didn't know he was in Eastenders. Well done on avoiding certain elements of pop culture for this long.
