I have a sandy 2500K and thought i would just try and overclock it on stock volts and see what it could do. Am on retail fan (not even sure the word heatsink qualifies for that tiny cooler
) so not looking to push hard or for too long.....
however i cant get it to overclock.
I have the asus board - the 130odd quid P8P67 and i stuck the multiplier up to 40 however it says "turbo" mode set for x40.
but everywhere i can see the speed of the cpu t still says 3.3ghz (actually in the bios iirc it says its a little bit faster i think) but certainly i have not seen it hit 4ghz.
my wndows 7 experience still rates the cpu @ 7.6 which is what it does at stock, so as far as i can tell it isnt even that it sits at 3.3ghz and then ramps up under load.
i also tried enabling the auto overclocking however it also seemed to have no effect.
can someone show me where in the bios i can force its base speed/mulitplier up a bit?
