Am I being 'tight' not wanting to share my broadband with a mate?

Kid next doors mother stopped his internet as she's a drunkard & waster, but hes a good lad. So he was connected to me for 18months with a 30Metre Network Patch Cable. I know hes CSS & BF nut and trusted him. I never noticed the difference when he moved into his own flat. Ive got Virgin 20meg.

You definitely did the right thing and have lost nothing in him not wanting to be your mate anymore. Don't waste another minute on even thinking about him...

I know it's a cliche, but you really wouldn't be doing him a favour by giving him what he wants.

It's tough love, but he has to accept that if he has no job, and can't afford BB, then he doesn't get BB.

Also, round our way at least, our Council buildings (the One Stop Shops) are letting people come in off the street to use the 'net. No porn, of course :p

Suspect that's because they decided it was a "human right" to access the internet, and now the Council has a duty of care to provide it.

The OP sounds pretty hard up and always seems to be surrounded by scum

Newquay is like that unfortunately, if you don't have a lot of money a majority of the places available to rent that are cheap are situated in bad areas, also because your renting cheap accommodation it's usually the type of place that has people on the dole and attracts ruffians.

The thing is, (and I'm not sure how this will come off), many people over the years, landlords, service men, friends etc have said they are surprised that I live in some of the places that I do, they think I could do a lot better based on my demeanour but my problem is lack of confidence.

£30/month?! AND installation fees?

Either you're on an incredibly high-end tarrif, or they saw you coming :/

It wasn't a first time installation fee, I transferred my BT broadband from my old address, BT told me that they could install the line for free at my new address but I'd lose my special rate which is £28 a month for phone line and BB, now I argued with them stating that even at my so called special rate I'm paying more than Talk Talk and Sky's regular rate but they weren't having it, I would have left but because I was under contract I would have had to pay a 'get out' fee, so I decided pay the £130 for a reconnection, I plan to leave them as soon as my contract is up.
