So I walked into a well known office supply shop the other day to try out the chairs. After a few minutes of sitting in various chairs and testing out the tilt and up and down movement, a store assistant walked over to me and asked if I required any help. I asked the young man if any of the chairs reclined, to which I was met with a blank look. "recline?" he asked, "what do you mean?" I tried to explain, but he wasn't getting it, the chap had no idea what I meant by "recline" and was unaware of the difference between reclining and tilting. Frustrated, I left the shop, saying "nevermind!". Ever since, then I've been feeling bad about it, as it may have come across a little rude. I did find it rater annoying that this chap came over to assist, when I didn't really need assistance, after all, I was only in the shop to sit in all of the chairs and see which one I liked the best! So whilst, the guy was apparently willing to help, he did not appear to possess the ability to add any value to my chair evaluation process, hence it would have been better for all concerned if he just left me alone to try out the chairs. Am I ***** for storming out?

The fact that somebody selling chair doesn't know the difference between "tilt" and "recline" is pretty poor, then they wonder why sales in shops are dwindling, 9/10 when I go into a shop I know more about the products they sell than they do!

I think most people working in chain shops have little to no interest in what they are selling. You need to go to a specialist or independent shop for that kind of service, but you must also be prepared to pay for the added value.

Also, IKEA Markus!
Necropost alert. Years later, and I need another chair. Will be checking out the Markus (if they still sell it!)

Markus is dangerous as it can feel good in the shop then be awful over time (very very over the top lumbar support). Not saying they're bad, just myself and many others I've seen have had that experience.

Also doesn't recline, does tilt though :p
