Evening all,
Just wanting to check I will be doing the network correct.
Main BT Socket in lounge downstairs
.
Router connects to BT Socket
Smart TV connects to gigabyte switch
Gigabyte Switch connect to RJ45 socket in lounge
Cat 6 cable routed outside up the side of the house (99% out of view) into loft.
Cable connects to another gigabyte switch which is mounted on a wall in the loft.
Cables routed into main bedroom and study and terminated to an RJ45 socket in each room.
Smart TV in bedroom is connected by CAT6 to the wall socket.
In the study CAT6 cable is used to connect another switch. Main PC/Server, and possibly laptops (may extend the wifi) connects via CAT6 cable to the switch.
I will use an 8 port switch on each so plenty of scope. Main reason will be to use Plex to steam HD films & TV shows and obviously internet throughout.
I may add another smart TV in the kitchen, depending on location a cable will be routed on the outside of the house down the same side and either connect to the lounge or loft switch.
Do I need to use outdoor cable or will standard be ok? The wall is pretty well protected as it is between me and next door so wont be effected by much weather or sun.
Thanks
