Am I CPU bound?

Just whacked another 8800GS in my rig as i got it on the cheap but so far the bench resulkts arent that astounding lol.

Ive used SLI before and have seen big gains but this time its almost nothing.

Rig :

E2180 @ 3Ghz
P5N-T SLI 780i mobo
2x 8800GS 384Mb
2Gb PC6400 ULL
Corsair VX450 PSU

Running the latest 177.83 drivers with the PhysX thing installed also.

3DM06 returns 9154 with a single card and only 10650 with both cards and SLI enabled.

Only game ive tried is bioshock and that dosent seem to have gone up much, if any in FPS, i'll have to install crysis and run the bench tool and see what happens with that.

I had wondered if it as a power issue but i get no low power wnings in the nvidia control panel.

3D Marks 06 won't go up loads - 8800GT SLI I went from 14K to 18K - you should still see a bigger gain than that tho - 1x 8800GS on a 3gig E6600 got me ~10.7K - 2 of them should come in around 13K even on a 3gig CPU.

At 1440x900 all details maxed BioShock goes from 48fps average to 90+ with an 8800GT SLI setup - tho weirdly I see lower framerates in the menu than a single card.

i just upgraded from an OC'd 8800GT to 280GTX with my OC'd 939 and got 0 improvement in 3dmark06 benchmark. i think its time to replace my faithful

had ~10000 before upgrade got ~10000 afterwards, unless theres a fault with the card my bottle neck must be CPU,RAM or chipset speed.

new cards does not perform in 3dmark06 but if u want to test your gt280 u suggest use 3dmark vantage
